Rotary District 6840, which includes Slidell Rotary clubs is committed to 100 Days of Service from January 1 to April 10, 2017. The goal is to have a significant impact on the lives of the people in our district by involving our members in more than 2,500 hours of service, raising a minimum of $65,000 for charity.

Members spoke to small groups of after-school children about their jobs and potential career opportunities. The goal was to create interest in a variety of jobs that children and expand their possibilities.

Some of the jobs featured were real estate, banking, journalism, meteorology, counseling, insurance sales and marketing.

Rainbow Child Care Center is a non-profit, United Way Partner agency that offers care for children ages one through five. It was started in 1983 as an outreach mission of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church. It moved to 121 Kingspoint Boulevard in 1990.

When the center was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, local Rotarians and Rotary International funding helped to rebuild the facility.
